Signature Soundz (BIO)
“Derrick Christopher” Bartell, Jeff “Jeffry Miles” McLean and Larry Graves played together off and on, for several years, with different bands. After a series of gigs they played together around April 2005, they decided to join forces and formed Signature Soundz. They have evolved over the last five years into one of Greensboro’s finest bands. Each member of Signature Soundz is a well rounded musician. They have played, sang and entertained audiences in many venues and settings. From Sunday morning Praise and Worship to the Wedding Ceremony, and reception, from the small acoustic jazz venue to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, no performance is too big or too small for Signature Soundz. They have played for the NAACP’s Annual Harvest Ball, the International Civil Rights Museum’s Black and White Ball and many clubs and private functions throughout the Southeastern US. Each member of Signature Soundz uses their gift of music to make you feel good and is at home on the stage, with their instrument, sharing their gifts at every opportunity.
Signature Soundz is:
Larry Graves; Bass Guitarz and Keyz
Larry started his music career at an early age. He played as bassist for Greensboro based bands Covacus & Sweet Dreams. He has play with Tom Brown (Jamaican Funk). He formed a local band known as Fatjoy which enjoyed much success under his leadership. Larry has worked with numerous local bands and groups. Jeff “Jeffry Miles” McLean: Guitarz, lead & backing vocalz (aka, play that funky music white boy) Jeff was a self taught guitar player since the age of 5 until he was awarded a classical guitar music scholarship to UNC Wilmington where he studied under Professor Sam Dorsey, (An Andre’ Segovia master student). Maurice is also Director of Music at a church in Kernersville, NC. His smooth drumming, technical prowess, tight pocket and 1st tenor vocal range are the foundation of an experience you don’t want to miss.
Robin Johnson: Percussion, keyz, bass, lead & backing vocalz Robin grew up a preacher’s kid, “PK” in Greensboro, playing Keyz & Drumz from a very early age, on to high school marching band, enabling her to play with some of the most talented musicians and artists in the area. She has played with local bands Kilowatt, Covacus, Ebonique, and world famous Barbara Weathers of Atlantic Star. She has performed in opening acts for Boney James, BWB, Cameo, and many others. Robin’s love for perfection and creativity are topped only by her love for God.
Kerrisha, “Kerry” Glover: Lease & backing vocalz Kerry started singing in church choirs at the age of 4. By the wise old age of 6, she had experienced her first time leading the choir through a song on Sunday morning.
Continuing through her life to present singing in many churches and receiving many accolades; from directing the youth choir at Chapel Hill when she was 14 to her work teaching children to sing and recording in the studio, it is easy to recognize her passion for singing, which is exactly why you don’t want to miss her live in person. Kerry delivers the real thing!
Signature Soundz work very closely with a host of other talented individuals, including a 3-piece horn section, and several very talented Saxophone players. We bring it… whatever you want to hear, that is!
